Only other flag that seems to be unconfirmed - or possibly abandoned nowadays, but was used in first years for independence - the naval white ensign.

According to a new book titled "Air markings of the world", published in Beijing, China in Oct 2003 and supervised by Chinese Airforce Political Committee, Tanzanian air marking has blue border to the disc.

Some publications show a blue border around the roundel, others not.

In Cochrane and Elliott's Military Aircraft Insignia of the World (1998) [cos98] has:
"Tanganyika and Zanzibar united to form Tanzania in 1964. An air-wing of the People's Defence Force was formed soon after. Aircraft have always carried the same markings, a green disc with a yellow torch and wreath. The national flag of green, blue, black and yellow is used as a fin marking."

Cochrane & Elliot forgot to mention the blue border as observed by Nozomi - however it is clearly visible in their not so clear image.

The shape of the torch is same as one drawn in the Coat of Arms and the wreath branches (not two but three like Album 2000)and blue border is double wide as your trial image.

Jeshi la Wanachi la Tanzania was formed in 1965 and adopted the roundel as shown above. National flag was used as fin flash.
